What are guest posts? Guest posts (or guest posting) is publishing an article on someone else’s website.
It’s that simple.
And people do this so they can get more brand awareness and traffic back to their own website (also known as referral traffic).
Now I have a video for you on tips on how you can leverage guest posting, which you can watch below… or you can just read the article.
How to Find Guest Blogging Opportunities
The first thing you will want to do is find guest post opportunities. When looking for places to guest post, your main goal is to find sites relevant to your niche or industry. You are looking for blogs that fit the following criteria:
- the content is focused on your niche/industry
- the audience of the blog will be interested in your industry
- the blog has engaged readership (posts have been shared socially and commented upon)
- the blog owner is active on social media (so you know that they will be promoting your work on their site)
If you are selling plant seeds, for example, you will want to find gardening blogs with an engaged audience of gardeners. The following should help you find the right kind of guest post opportunities
Google Searches
Google is a great place to start in the search for guest posting opportunities. You can use any of the following keyword searches to find blogs that accept guest posts. Just replace keywords with keywords from your industry.
- keyword “submit a guest post”
- keyword “guest post”
- keyword “guest post by”
- keyword “accepting guest posts”
- keyword “guest post guidelines”
- Keyword “Write for us Lifestyle”
These searches should lead you to a blog’s guest post guidelines page, guest post submission page, or actual guest posts by other writers who find it via email Designerwomenofficial@gmail.com.
Use The Right Image File Format
One place where sites can improve speed, which can improve your Google ranking is by using the right image file formats.
Every image you use, including avatars, logos, and photographs are image files. Those files can weigh down your website. Therefore, you want to use the right sort of image file.
Compressing images is important. But, you want to make sure you understand the difference between the two types of compressions. Lossy compression can affect how the image looks, while lossless reduces the size of the file, but the image is not affected.
Contentful says that “even small improvements to page load speed can make a big difference.”
Authoritative Content
Google is creating the ultimate knowledge base. That means sites that have a lot of good information are going to rank higher than sites that are thin on information.
How do you create an authoritative site that will rank higher? First, create longer posts. A post with over 1,000 words, with a unique keyword, and a lot of authoritative external links, and relevant internal links shows that you are the authority. Make sure that the images you use are tagged with this keyword, as well as your headings.
Second, this content needs to be free of grammatical or spelling errors. Third, the same keyword should never be repeated. Each piece of content should have a whole different keyword. Otherwise, Google will not know which page to rank higher. If there are related keywords, create a separate page for each one and link them to each other.
Lastly, backlinks from other related sites to your page are gold. That also demonstrates authority.
Boosting your SEO ranking is following the best SEO practices with even little details. Always strive to demonstrate your knowledge in your field. Moreover, always share details that demonstrate that you are the top authority.
