6 easy tips for cleaning your toilet

Cleaning the toilets, what a chore! Fortunately, there are several super easy, ecological and economical solutions to have impeccable toilets.

How to clean a toilet? Yuck, just thinking about it puts you off… You think it’s the most disgusting place in the house. Well, think again! There are more bacteria on your smartphone or purse than on the toilet seat. Do you want more? Be aware that the whole house is teeming with bacteria. They fit in your bed, on your tea towels, your sponges, your toothbrush and even your coffee maker!

However, we all agree, it is important to maintain your home, and especially to clean and disinfect the toilets regularly. There is no point flooding it with bleach, we quickly forget this bad habit: in addition to being dangerous for your health and toxic for the environment, it has no emollient agent and therefore does not wash. Worse, it will not tackle the root of the problem, namely the limestone that the dirt squats. So, quickly, we take stock of the effective and super easy cleaning products like electric toilet cleaning brush to have impeccable toilets.

1 – Clean the toilet bowl with baking soda

Definitely bicarbonate can do everything at home. Pour ½ glass of baking soda into the bottom of the toilet. Add ½ glass of white vinegar. As soon as this mixture starts to foam, it’s normal, harmless for you, but radical to unclog the dirt encrusted at the bottom of the toilet. Leave on for at least 30 minutes then remove the residue with the brush. Start again if necessary and let it act overnight if your toilet is really clogged.

2 – Clean the toilets with white vinegar

White vinegar, as a household product, there’s no better. It proves to be extremely effective when it comes to descaling the bottom of the toilet bowl. Heat ½ liter of white vinegar, no need to boil it. Pour it gently on the sides of the bowl. Leave it on for at least an hour, it’s even better if you can leave it on overnight. Clean with the brush, its magic, the stains have disappeared. Don’t make the mistake of using bleach: it whitens but doesn’t clean.

3 – Clean the bowl with Coke

Nothing could be simpler, pour the equivalent of a can into the bowl, leave to act for at least an hour, brush. Certainly less effective than vinegar or soda crystals, it is useful for regular maintenance.

4 – Descale the toilets with soda crystals

Soda crystals are a very effective cleaner whose properties are similar to baking soda. On the other hand, being more corrosive, it is imperative to handle them with household gloves. Heat a small pot of water. Pour 2 tablespoons of soda crystals into the toilet then add hot water, leave to act for as long as possible, at least 1 hour, then scrub with the brush.

5- Clean the toilet seat

We think of the bowl, but the bezel also gets dirty. Clean it above and below with a mixture of soapy water and white vinegar. Use a sponge or microfiber dedicated to toilet cleaning.

6- Disinfect the flush button

But also the switch and the door handle. We always wash our hands when leaving the toilet. But between the moments we get up and the moment we go out, we flush the toilet, we turn off the light and we open and close the door. It is therefore very likely that dirt has been deposited on all these places. Clean them regularly with a mixture of water and white vinegar and 2 drops of Tea Tree essential oil.
