Xiaomi devices are known for offering great specs at an affordable price. Over the past few years, the company has expanded beyond China, making a splash in Pakistan and steadily growing in Europe. So when’s the best time to get a Xiaomi phone?

Xiaomi owns Poco and Redmi, so these are both on the list. Also, there are phones at different price points, so everyone should be able to find something they like.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Xiaomi was known for making solid, albeit unspectacular, phones that sold for cheap in its native country. In recent years Xiaomi has worked hard to break away from that image, and become a premium flagship maker. Mi 11 Ultra is the crown jewel of the Mi 11 series, and it’s the best one yet.

Mi 11 Ultra packs the latest and greatest components that can compete with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It features the second largest image sensor in the industry (behind only Japan’s Sharp Aquos R6), a bright and vibrant LTPO 120Hz panel with WQHD+ resolution, and the Snapdragon 888 SoC.

The Mi 11 Ultra also outperforms Samsung in other areas like wireless charging and an ultra-wide lens. If you add IP68 water and dust resistance and fast wireless charging, this isn’t just Xiaomi’s best slab smartphone, but arguably the best slab smartphone of all time.

POCO F3 / Mi 11X

Xiaomi launched POCO three years ago with a phone with almost flagship specs at an attractive price. POCO F3 continues this strategy. Around $349 ($416), the POCO F3 features a 120Hz display with a crazy 360Hz touch sampling rate, a Snapdragon 870 (which is an upgraded Snapdragon 865+), a solid set of cameras, and a sleek glass-and-aluminum sandwich design.

So unless you really want the best of the best, the POCO F3 is the best Xiaomi phone to buy value-wise. This phone is quickly rising up as a default recommendation for the average Indian customer thanks to its great performance to price ratio.

Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro

Xiaomi’s 11T series has the 11T and the 11T Pro. The Mi 10X is the successor to last year’s Mi 10T series, but Xiaomi ditched the “Mi” branding.

Xiaomi’s 11T has a triple-camera setup with primary, ultrawide, and telemacro sensors. A healthy 5,000mAh battery supports 120W fast charging, it has a hefty 6.67-inch display, and it has an in-display fingerprint reader. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 888 processor and comes with up to 12GB of RAM.

The more affordable Xiaomi 11T runs MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200U processor. There’s no 12GB version, but you get the same powerful camera array. Xiaomi kept its big 5,000mAh battery, even though it cut the charging to a still-brilliant 67W.

Redmi Note 11 and 11 Pro

Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 11 series is an affordable and well-rounded 5G phone. It has four unique models, but we’ll focus on the two most popular ones: the Redmi Note 11 and 11 Pro.

As with the Mi 11 Pro, the 108MP lens is the star of the show. A 5G-ready MediaTek Dimensity 920 chipset is also on board. With a 6.67-inch OLED display, you get a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. Xiaomi added 67W wired charging to the mix, so you shouldn’t have any issues charging the 5,160mAh battery.

Then there’s the regular Note 11, which offers less, but is still worth considering. Apart from a smaller display and a weaker chipset, it has less RAM and a different camera setup.

 POCO X3 GT

With a price around $300, the POCO X3 GT has a 120Hz display, a MediaTek Helio Dimensity 1100 processor, a good 64MP camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Just six months old, the 6nm Dimensity 1100 is a near flagship SoC – it also supports 5G natively. Even though it’s an LCD panel instead of OLED, it still runs at 120Hz and the animations are smooth. Another great phone from POCO’s X3 series.

POCO X3 Pro

If you like what you saw in the POCO X3 GT but don’t need 5G, the POCO X3 Pro might be a better choice. It’s cheaper, and the Snapdragon 860 SoC here is a bit older, but it has the same 120Hz display and software.

POCO M4 Pro

POCO M4 Pro runs on a dimensity 810 with no zoom lens and a plasticky body. It’s not a flagship phone, but at under $220, it’s not bad. You get a 6.6-inch, 90Hz 1080p display, a decent 50MP camera, a great selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery that can last a day and a half.

Xiaomi’s software is also well-optimized, so you won’t have problems with lags or crashes like other brands in this price range. In fact, the haptic engine here is pretty good; it’s just as good as phones costing $800 or more. With the Dimensity 810, you’ll also get 5G.

Although there are Xiaomi phones with even lower prices, the POCO M4 Pro offers one of the better rounded-out packages out there.

Black Shark 4s series

Most people don’t think of Xiaomi phones as gaming options, but the Black Shark lineup excels in that area. The Black Shark 4 series got a refresh with the 4s and 4s Pro. Under the hood, the vanilla 4s has a Snapdragon 870, while the Pro model has a Snapdragon 888 Plus.

Both devices have 6.67-inch displays, but that’s about it. The Black Shark 4s Pro comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, while the basic model has 12GB and 256GB. Also available is a 64MP main camera, while the Black Shark 4s features a 48MP lens.

These are the only gaming phones on our list, but you’ll find that they’re some of Xiaomi’s best.
